Secure Computing Webwasher product joins the service
We welcome Secure Computing's Webwasher to the group of products participating in the VirusTotal service. Webwasher is a gateway-only product, and because of that they apply more aggressive heuristics than what one would expect in for instance a desktop product.

excelent news ... keep up great work
all i wish now VT adds A-squared (cmd line scanner exists)
Great!
VT is getting better than ever !
Arigatto VT
Webwasher and Antivir aren´t using the same engine? It seems to be the same!!! The results only change the name of the threat, but the results are always the same?!
I hope the next scanner is a-squared.
Webwasher uses Antivir plus a custom developed engine. It´s an aggressive scanner like almost all AVs targeted to gateways.
Why not add Rising AV?Jotti added Rising AV.
Hello Brothers, Iam Data Manager in Mayanja Memorial Hospital. I like you dreams. But i would like to start make an antivirus. By be if you don,t mind please tell me the tools you us. God bless you.
MMH: Developing an antivirus is tough. It was much easier in the early 1990s. You can use whatever programming language and associated development tools you favor--Visual Basic, etc. Most seem to be using C++ or C# now, although NOD32 claims to use mostly machine language. ClamAV is written in Linux, but their ClamWin spinoff started in Python but is now moving over to Windows in the .Net environment.
You will need at least an on-demand scanner, a resident scanner, and a signature database (with additional current analysis/updates). Most antiviruses now use sort of heuristic or behavior analysis now, which gets very complicated.
Lay it out good before you start. Study as much as you can. Work on one component at a time--probably the on-demand scanner/signature databases should come first. After that you can add the heuristics.

Good luck!
